Aldrin’s Birthday Celebration with the Blessedville Kids

“The value of a man resides in what he gives and not in what he is capable of receiving.” ~Albert Einstein

Birthdays are occasions that most children look forward to- they are marking times, milestones; a celebration that means food, friends, and to some kids, gifts. Although it’s nice to throw a birthday party, for some people, like some dear friends of Chummy Chum’s, it is more meaningful and worthwhile if the party is shared with kids who may not often get invited to one, or sadly, cannot afford to have their own.

On July 2, 2011, Aldrin, our very own Ms Rowena Bula’s son, celebrated his birthday the Chummy Chum way. We went to Blessedville School for Special Children Foundation in Alfonso, Tagaytay. It is a foundation dedicated to teaching and guiding special children for free, with the priority to those who are underprivileged. Blessedville has always had a special spot in Chummy Chum’s heart, and another reason we took Aldrin’s birthday party there was to give a salute to the tireless and big-hearted volunteer teachers who were the guiding light to the students there. It was an awesome birthday party, complete with balloons, gift-giving, food, games and prizes. It was such a delight to see all the children enjoying the festivities, and equally satisfying to know that it was after all not just a party for one, but a party for everyone.
