Chummy Chum at SMF Bacoor Medical Mission

Chummy Chum went with SM Foundation again for another medical mission but this time at SM Bacoor in Cavite.
It is SMF’s aim to, as much as possible, conduct medical missions at all SM Branches, communities and health centers nationwide to provide free medicine and medical service to the poorest families who cannot afford to buy from SM’s department stores and groceries.
Today, we are here to cheer up the kids of Bacoor, Cavite who will have their free checkups. We are glad to see the volunteers who are helping the medical team to provide service to the people while CCF provided snacks to the children. Photo shows the kids receiving freebies from CCF and a photo of the Bacoor Mayor who went there to thank everyone who made the medical mission possible.

Chummy Chum at SMF Medical Mission for the Poor Families of Sta. Mesa

Chummy Chum continues its partnership with SM Foundation as it graced another medical mission, this time at the parking lot of SM Sta. Mesa in Manila. Almost 1,000 family, including kids, gathered at the venue and made a beeline for the free medical check-ups.
When CCF arrived, we saw several families with kids were about to go home, we told them that they should stay as there will be free snacks and gifts for the children. Most of them stayed put and patiently waited for us while we prepare the popcorn. But we encountered a little delay with regards to cooking the popcorn due to the slow flow of the electricity. It took us 30 minutes to cook them. We started to give the children popcorn since most of them are just waiting for the popcorn to cook and were not lining up for medical checkup anymore. Some doctors were a bit amused because some of the kids were feeling sick but when they see the popcorn, they forget their check up and were going for the popcorn instead.
The event went on smoothly and some had their pictures taken with Chummy Chum quite normally as if they were not feeling sick.

Chummy Chum at Kanlungan Tunasan’s 12th Anniversary Celebration

CCF granted the request of Kanlungan Tunasan to sponsor snacks for 200 street children during their 12th year anniversary celebration in giving service and helping the less fortunate children of Muntinlupa and nearby communities.
Kanlungan Tunasan is a drop in center that caters to street children and teaches them values formation, religion and life skills. They also give them food which they get from the funds they receive from their supporters.
This day, the organizers invited all the kids to their anniversary celebration wherein their aim is to spread joy and cheer to the less fortunate children. After the worship service they had games and groupings for their talent showcase wherein some danced while others rendered songs. Chummy Chum came out to dance for them and after that, we gave away Chummy Chum freebies and snacks to the children.

Chummy Chum Visits Philippine Children Medical Center-OPD

The team headed to Agham Road in Quezon City to bring joy to 100 kids who were scheduled for checkup at PCMC.
When we arrived, most of the kids are already there waiting for their doctors, while we set up our popcorn booth. Everybody was asking us if they could buy some for their kids. We kept mum most of the time, not telling them what we were there for, so as to surprise them. But when Chummy Chum finally came out and danced for the kids, we finally told them that we were doing it to make the children happy and that all is for free. They all smiled especially the children.
We would like to thank Ms. Victoria Katrina Esta and family for the cupcakes. Advocacy Outreach (AO) for some gifts and lootbags and also to the Filipino-Indian Businessmen Club for the mineral water.

Chummy Chum Visits Ospital ng Tondo OPD

CCF Team went to Ospital ng Tondo as part of our monthly hospital visits, and spread cheer to the poor kids who were having their checkup at the OPD section of the said hospital. This is part of CCF’s commitment to regularly visit public hospitals to make the poor children happy and also to monitor the incubators we donated, and other hospital concerns.
As with the public hospitals in Manila, their mayor release ‘orange cards’ to indigent families who are residents of Manila to help them in their medical needs. Since it takes a long time to process the budget for the said concern, the hospital director of Ospital ng Tondo asked for CCF’s help to through their Chummy Chum Supporters who are willing to donate some medical needs. One of our generous sponsors, Mrs. Sison, answered the request of the said hospital. We are truly grateful for your generosity and kind heart. Today, we also treated several kids with snacks and Chummy Chum treats with the help of Victoria Katrina Esta family.

Chummy Chum Celebrates Valentine’s Day with SM Foundation

CCF celebrates the day of hearts with SM Foundation, one of our partners in giving service to our less fortunate brothers and sisters.
There are times that we become a little careful with accepting invitations from other groups claiming to help the poor but in truth, they just use said events for their own personal gains. But during those moments, we cast our doubts aside and only think of how we could make poor kids happy.
With SM Foundation, their intention to help is really genuine and they also take good care of us, their partners. According to them, their top-most priority is the health of every poor Filipinos. And on this day, we ventured into another medical mission at SM City San Lazaro with special guest, DOH Under Secretary Erick Tayag who entertained everybody with a dance number with Chummy Chum.

Chummy Chum with SM Foundation at Los Banos Health Center

CCF joined SM Foundation on another medical mission in Los Banos, Laguna.
There is this small health center that serves the poorest of the poor in the said community. When SMF heard of it, they agreed to shoulder the renovation cost of the said center so that many more poor people can be accommodated in a place where most of the hospitals are privately-owned.
Today marks the re-opening of the newly renovated health center wherein SMF brought in a team of doctors and nurses that will give free medical check up to less fortunate individuals.
Almost 500 people in the community availed of the free medical service. Chummy Chum gave popcorn and other freebies to the children who are present.

Chummy Chum Visits Quezon City General Hospital

CCF paid a visit to QC General Hospital (QCGH), primarily to check the incubator that CCF donated to the hospital in 2012 and to ensure that the said machine is in good condition. It turned out, the only incubator that is functioning in QCGH is the one that we donated. The rest were out of service. So we offered our help to try and fix said machines for free, just like we do to other public hospitals. The engineer was surprised that the medical staff of the said hospital has already declared said incubators as unfixable even though they haven’t got anyone to check the machines yet.

Another reason for our visit is to give joy to the children at the hospital. Almost 50 kids lined up when we announced that we will be giving away snacks and Chummy Chum freebies. This is our way to share our blessings to the less fortunate ones.

Chummy Chum with ECPAT and Ateneo TUGON for NCSAAW Celebration

After the morning event in Manila, our group headed straight to Ateneo de Manila University in Katipunan, Quezon City for the NCSAAW Celebration as we were invited by ECPAT in cooperation with Ateneo’s TUGON.
The theme of the event is Sexual Victims Awareness Celebration and to educate people of the rights and concerns of abused victims. Majority of the centers and institutions that houses abused children were present at the event.
ECPAT and TUGON groups prepared for everything. They have 10 booths that offer various games and food, including Chummy Chum booth wherein we prepared popcorn and freebies for the participants.
After the speech of the coordinator, the children started to play on the inflatable playgrounds set up for them. Some made a beeline to the food and drinks corner. Small children received most of the freebies but all of them had a grand time with the fiesta-like atmosphere of the event.

Chummy Chum at UP-PGH Student Council Outreach Program

CCF received an invitation from the Student Council of University of the Philippines Manila located at the Philippine General Hospital in Taft Ave., Manila (UP-PGH) as they hold an outreach program dubbed: “I am PGH! (I am a Person Giving Hope!)” wherein they treated the cancer kid patients of PGH to a tour in Luneta Park and Lapu-lapu monument in Manila.

When CCF arrived, the organizers were still setting up. It was a very hot day so the organizers rented tents to shield everyone from the sun’s heat, as well as chairs. The event had a ‘fiesta’ atmosphere dedicated solely to make the cancer kid patients happy.

We would have wanted to witness the whole day affair, but we still have a prior commitment scheduled in the afternoon.  The event started really early. As the beneficiaries arrived, CCF and other sponsors started giving the kids with gifts and toys. Chummy Chum went out and danced for the kids and we distributed Chummy Chum snacks. Halfway to the event we excused ourselves to get ready for our afternoon event.

Chummy Chum Visits Sick Children at NCH's Out-Patient Department

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and CCF hospital visitation is still ongoing as we start the “Love Month”.
Chummy Chum paid a visit to children at the out-patient department of National Children’s Hospital (NCH) located at E. Rodriguez, Quezon City. One volunteer, Mr. Mark Garcia, informed us of his intention of bringing hamburgers, from a popular fast food chain, as well as juice drinks as additional snacks, and we very much welcomed the idea.
When we started to set-up and cook the popcorn, the entire area became hungry by the aroma coming from the popcorn, that even over at the Cancer Ward, kids their wanted to have some.
The little ones were very excited to receive their freebies but we patiently informed them that we will distribute all the gifts to the children later on because they have yet to meet Chummy Chum. Some waited patiently, while others were very impatient and were already crying so we gave freebies to them first to appease them.
After Chummy Chum’s performance, the children all lined up and had their freebies and refreshments courtesy of Mark. Thank you so much for helping us out to make the children happy.
