They had set out, as they often did, to bring smiles to children in need. But that day took an unexpected turn. When they visited a community recently devastated by fire, they learned that several families had moved somewhere nearby—into a cemetery in Pasay. Without pause, the team followed. There, among tombstones and narrow paths, they were met not with hesitation, but with warmth. A community leader welcomed them, and soon the space came alive with anticipation. One mother stepped forward to help, carefully listing every child’s name so no one would be left out. Though the space was small, the joy filled every corner. Years passed, and after the pandemic, that promise found its perfect moment. For her son Milo’s 12th birthday, Ms. Ahne chose a celebration with deeper meaning—one that reflected gratitude for the blessings she had received. She believed that the most meaningful way to celebrate life is by sharing it with the less fortunate, especially children, who hold a special place in the Creator’s heart. Together with Milo, his friends, and her loved ones, she returned to Chummy Chum for an outreach at Safe Haven Community Center and Children’s Home. The day began with laughter as children played games led by cheerful clowns. Food was shared generously, and the program opened with prayer and welcoming words from the center’s head. As the day unfolded, joy filled every corner—from exciting games to a delightful magic show. But the most magical moment came during a storytelling session led by the Chummy Chum team. The children listened intently, their eyes widening as the story came to life—until, to their amazement, the real Chummy Chum appeared before them. Cheers erupted as the children ran forward, eager to dance, hug, and capture the moment. In that simple yet meaningful celebration, Ms. Ahne fulfilled a promise she had carried for years. Milo’s birthday became more than just a personal milestone—it became a day of shared happiness, kindness, and giving. With grateful hearts, the children and staff of Safe Haven thanked Ms. Ahne, her family, and friends for their generosity. 12 March 2026 NIA Road Baranggay Pinyahan Q.C. Early one morning, the Chummy Chum team visited children living in squatter areas affected by the recent large fire on NIA Road, Barangay Pinyahan, Quezon City. By 4 AM, the team had already begun preparing a favorite snack—ube-flavored ginatang mais (corn in coconut milk)—known for its creamy and comforting taste. Upon arrival, the team saw the extent of the devastation. According to the QC NDRRMC, around 6,000 individuals were affected by the fire. Many families were staying along the roadside after evacuation centers reached full capacity. Since most aid had been directed to the evacuation center, Chummy Chum chose to hold its charity activity in an area that had not yet received assistance. While many donors provided basic necessities such as rice, canned goods, noodles, and clean water, Chummy Chum focused on lifting the spirits of the children—many of whom were deeply affected by the disaster. Through a simple children’s party, the team aimed to bring comfort, joy, and a sense of care to the young survivors. The event featured games, prizes, and lively activities that the children enthusiastically joined. The highlight of the day came when the Chummy Chum mascot danced with the children, who quickly gathered around, laughing, dancing, and giving warm hugs. Parents watched with tears of joy as their children experienced a moment of happiness amid the hardship. At the end of the program, the children received snacks, popcorn, cotton candy, toys, special gifts, and souvenirs.
