For her 60th birthday, Joyce Marie chose a celebration unlike any other. Instead of receiving gifts, she shared the blessings of her life with children at Bahay Aruga. After discovering the Chummy Chum Foundation online, what began as a simple idea became one of the most meaningful birthdays she had ever celebrated.
It was the first time the Chummy Chum team met Joyce Marie in person. Accompanied by her co-workers and churchmates, she wholeheartedly joined the day's activities with the children. Together, they led the opening prayer, participated in parlor games, shared stories, and most importantly, spent quality time with every child.
For children with special needs living in difficult circumstances, the greatest gift is often not something wrapped in a box, but the genuine presence of people who make them feel seen, loved, and cared for. Through every smile, conversation, and shared moment, Joyce Marie and her group gave the children exactly that.
The celebration continued with a delicious children's meal, while every child received a toy and special souvenirs from Joyce Marie and the Chummy Chum team. Chummy Chum gave a joyful surprise to the children with his presence. Joyce Marie also donated bags of groceries to Bahay Aruga to help support the children's daily needs.
As the day came to a close, the laughter slowly faded, but the joy remained. Joyce Marie celebrated not only another year of life, but a day that filled young hearts with hope, kindness, and happy memories. It was a beautiful reminder that the most meaningful birthdays are those celebrated by making a difference in the lives of others.
