A Day of Light at NCH: Chummy Chum Brings Smiles to Young Warriors

17 April 2026

In Quezon City, a regular hospital day at the National Children’s Hospital was gently transformed into something brighter. At the Out-Patient Department Hematology (OPD HEMA) unit, children battling cancer were given a much-needed break from treatment routines—one filled with laughter, color, and hope.

Even before the program began, excitement spread quickly. As the Chummy Chum team set up, children eagerly waited for a glimpse of Chummy, their anticipation building with every passing moment. Soon, the space came alive with vibrant decorations, playful games, and carefully prepared loot bags—turning the unit into a joyful escape.

At the heart of the visit was a simple but powerful story. Through a storytelling session, the team shared Chummy Chum’s mission—nearly two decades of reaching out to vulnerable children across the National Capital Region through small acts of kindness that create lasting impact. The children and their families listened closely, finding comfort in the message that they are not alone in their journey.

As the day came to a close, smiles lingered. Parents and hospital staff expressed their heartfelt gratitude, sharing how moments like these bring light during some of their most difficult days.

The visit was made possible through the kindness of many—dedicated volunteers from WeCarePH Angels, and generous partners including SM City Sucat and Zamony Venture Corporation, whose contributions added extra joy to every child’s gift.

Through visits like this, Chummy Chum continues its mission: to bring hope, one smile at a time.
