Chummy Chum recently brought smiles and laughter to Baseco, one of Manila’s most disadvantaged communities, during a special visit to the Pres. Corazon C. Aquino General Hospital. For nearly 20 years, Chummy Chum has remained committed to one mission: bringing joy to underprivileged children wherever they are.
As with every charity event, the team started the day early, preparing a warm and comforting meal—Sweet Corn Coconut Cream Sticky Rice (Ginataang Mais)—for the children. Upon arriving at the hospital, they quickly set up a small booth filled with toys, instantly capturing the children’s attention and excitement. Simple games followed, filling the area with laughter while popcorn popped nearby.
The program began with a short introduction to Chummy Chum’s mission and words of encouragement for the children and their families. The hospital’s kind director, Dra. Licuanan, also joined the gathering and shared a meaningful message about caring for patients and their medical needs. When Chummy Chum finally appeared, the children’s faces lit up with pure joy, and the hospital staff happily joined in the fun, snapping photos and cheering along.
The day ended with children lining up to receive hot meals and gifts, lovingly distributed with the help of the hospital director. Gratitude filled the room—from the children, their families, and the hospital staff—thankful not only for the gifts, but for the time, care, and happiness shared.
Heartfelt thanks to SM City Sucat for the bunny bears, Zamony Venture Corporation for the diapers, Sir PJ, Ms. Cha, and Ma’am Liza for the pre-loved toys, and ELI for the new undergarments. This joyful visit was made possible by everyone who continues to support Chummy Chum’s mission of bringing hope and happiness to children most in need.
