When the Party Came to Them: A Birthday Wish Answered

7 February 2026

Brgy. Zapote, Las Pinas City

In places where children usually just watch cars pass by, ChummyChum chooses to stop — and turn ordinary days into unforgettable celebrations.

With the barangay official’s permission, the team surprises children in underserved communities with parties created just for them. They arrived at a landfill relocation site where families who survived the Zapote fire now live in small makeshift shelters under the heat and dust.

A day before, a child asked her mother, “Mama, what are we going to have for my birthday tomorrow?” The mother had nothing prepared and no words to give. All she could do was whisper a silent wish — that somehow, her child would still feel celebrated and loved.

And then, as if the heavens had heard her quiet prayer, something wonderful happened. Chummy Chum’s colorful vehicle pulled over. The team set up the booth, and in no time, the children were gathered. What followed felt like magic.

There were balloons dancing in the air, toys and loot bags waiting to be opened.  Special gifts like diapers, pre-loved clothes, coloring book sets, Chummy Chum pillows and Besties of Joy bunny bears.  The children were served with hot meals, cupcakes, biscuits and sweet juices.

For the first time, the children were having a real party - a celebration that was created just for them — a day where they were the true stars. They played games, laughed loudly, and cheered with delight. And when Chummy Chum himself appeared, dancing and hugging everyone, their smiles grew even brighter.

Though the visit was brief, the joy was lasting. In a place where survival is a daily reality, Chummy Chum left something powerful: the feeling of being seen, celebrated, and loved.

With heartfelt thanks to SM City Sucat, Zamony Venture Corporation, Sir PJ, Ma’am Liza, and Ms. Kay for sharing their blessings through toys, clothes, and support — and for helping make magic possible.
