A Birthday Shared with Children Who Needed It Most

While many people celebrate birthdays with family dinners and parties with friends, one special celebration chose a different path.

Through the partnership of New Asia Med Healthcare Group and the Chummy Chum Foundation, a birthday became a day of joy for children at Concordia Children’s Services in Santa Mesa, Manila.

Concordia Children’s Services cares not only for children without parents, but also extends its support to children from nearby communities living in extreme poverty. For this special event, the center invited both the children under their care and those from indigent families in the surrounding area—bringing together young lives who face different forms of hardship, yet share the same need for love, joy, and hope.

The children enjoyed games, face painting, magic shows, and puppet shows—filling the day with laughter.

Then came the surprise appearance of Chummy Chum.

The room instantly lit up with excitement as the children danced and laughed with the cheerful baby dinosaur mascot. After singing a heartfelt birthday song for the celebrant, the children were served food and received gifts, toys, and SM City Sucat signatured Bunny Bears.

Rice and groceries were also donated to help support the children in the days ahead.

Moments like this remind us that the greatest way to celebrate life’s blessings is to share them with the most in need children, letting them feel they are not alone and they are seen, loved and cared for.

Through efforts like this, the Chummy Chum Foundation continues its mission of bringing joy to children who need it most—one celebration, one smile, and one act of kindness at a time.

Note: The event was documented following the strict child-protection policies of Concordia Children’s Services. Images that publicly reveal the children’s faces are not permitted. As a result, only limited photos were taken and shared.
