Where Homes Once Stood, Hope Rose Again

Despite the rain, the Chummy Chum team traveled from Parañaque to Barangay Damayang Lagi, Quezon City, to serve children whose families had lost nearly everything in a devastating fire.
By the time the team arrived, the affected families had already left the evacuation center. Barangay officials led them to the fire site, where many families were staying in tents and enduring alternating extreme heat and heavy rain.
When the rain stopped, the team set up the outreach program on the very ground where the families’ homes once stood. With help from the sitio president, food, clothing, toys, and other gifts were prepared for the children.
Before Chummy Chum appeared, the team leader, Ate Weng, shared an inspirational message of encouragement and hope, that everything that lost will be replaced, just continue to remain kind, and never lose hope.
The children thought they were simply lining up for gifts, but each item carried the love of SM City Sucat, Zamony Venture Corporation, GTVL, and all generous donors the Give Love from Pre-Loved program.
Cheers filled the community when Chummy Chum arrived, dancing and bringing happiness amid the flooded streets and ongoing cleanup.
As one meaningful message from the barangay expressed:
“No matter what trials or disasters may come—even when everything is lost and broken—love and hope remain, and they will rise again.”
