Caring for baby Kassy.

No. 144: Kassy B Chua, 10 months, Cerebral palsy quadriplegic generalized epilepsy, spastic quadriplegic at 2nd to structure microcephaly, sip tracheostomy and G-tube insertion concurrent wasting, NCH.

Baby Kassy was born with cerebral palsy. She got a blood infection that reached her brain and made her medical condition worst. Baby Kassy’s life has been hanging since she was born. She has been in and out of the hospital since then, gone through two series of surgical operations and complex clinical procedures. Her third operation keeps her alive but still struggling to survive. Baby Kassy is fighting for her life. She is now breathing with the help of a G-Tube inserted in her throat. Baby Kassy is the youngest among 4 siblings. She belongs to a poor family. While she fights for her life in the ICU, her family was battling extreme poverty. They were evicted from their rented home, because of long overdue unpaid rental fees. The landlord had brought them to the barangay and forcibly pull out their TV, the only valuables they had for their children’s entertainment, to offset the unpaid rentals. Despite all difficulties, the family focuses on baby Kassy’s condition, keeping their faith that Kassy will be well soon.

The team sent immediate help with cash assistance for baby Kassy with grocery items to share with the family, along with the Chummy Chum freebies such as coloring books, mini stuff toys, and wrist bands.
