Hemaward, National's Children Hospital

The Chummy Chum Foundation, in partnership with Dra. Lin and her friends, recently visited young cancer patients on the fourth floor of the National Children’s Hospital, along with other children confined on the second and third floors.

The visit was in response to a heartfelt message sent to Chummy Chum’s official page a week earlier, requesting a gift-giving activity for the hospital’s young patients. The foundation quickly granted the wish, mobilizing their team to prepare for a special day of joy and comfort.

On the morning of the visit, the Chummy Chum team rose early to cook a comforting, bulalo-style special porridge and freshly popped popcorn. Bags filled with toys, snacks, and other surprises had already been packed the day before.

Arriving just before the hospital became busy, the team set up a cheerful booth showcasing all the treats they had lovingly prepared. Dra. Lin and her friends, equally excited, joined the team to meet the children.

Soon after, Chummy Chum, the mascot arrived, sparking excitement and smiles across the ward. Dra. Lin, meeting Chummy Chum for the first time in person, was delighted. Together, they made their way through the hospital, greeting each child at their bedside.

The sight of Chummy Chum brought immediate joy—some children, despite their condition, lit up and even managed to sit up with excitement, temporarily forgetting the pain they face daily. It was a moment that truly embodied the spirit of love and compassion that the foundation aims to spread: giving joy that leaves a lasting mark on a child’s heart.

Dra. Lin and her friends expressed how deeply moved they were by the experience. As they left, they shared one hopeful message: this is only the beginning.
