Joy After the Flood and Fire

21 August 2026 (AM)

Sitio Cabatuhan, Valenzuela City

Families living beneath a bridge in Valenzuela faced two devastating hardships—flooding caused by a recent typhoon, followed by a fire that destroyed their makeshift homes.

During its first mission of the day, the Chummy Chum team traveled from Parañaque to the evacuation center at T. De Leon Elementary School. They were warmly welcomed by Valenzuela Mayor Weslie Ting Gatchalian, who was also there to extend help to the affected families.

Through lively games, encouraging stories, and Chummy Chum’s special appearance, the children experienced a welcome moment of happiness. Loot bags, toys, balloons, clothes, and warm blankets were also shared, bringing comfort and hope after their difficult experience.

Heartfelt thanks go to SM City Sucat, Zamony Venture Corporation, GTVL for the warm blankets, and everyone who donated pre-loved toys and clothing. Their generosity helped bring joy back to families recovering from the flood and fire.
