Parola, Tondo Manila
A devastating fire swept through a community of homes built from light materials, leaving many families with nothing but the clothes they were wearing. For the children, the tragedy was especially painful, as the little they had was taken away in a matter of moments.
Upon learning of the incident, the Chummy Chum team quickly organized a special outreach activity. Driven by their mission to bring hope and joy to children in need, the team packed treats, gifts, and souvenirs and headed to the evacuation site.
Welcomed by the barangay staff, the volunteers set up their booth and immediately engaged the children in fun games, with prizes that brought smiles and excitement. Before the festivities continued, the team shared words of encouragement, reminding families not to lose hope despite the challenges they faced.
The children's excitement reached its peak when Chummy Chum appeared. Laughter filled the area as the children danced, posed for photos, and enjoyed a few moments of happiness amid difficult circumstances. For a while, the worries brought by the fire were replaced with smiles, laughter, and hope.
The outreach served as a reminder that even after great loss, kindness and compassion can help brighten the path forward.
Special thanks to Ms. Leilani of Barangay 275, WeCarePH, SM City Sucat, Zamony Venture Corporation, and all donors of pre-loved toys and clothes for helping bring comfort and joy to the affected children and families.
