Where Laughter Becomes Medicine

20 February 2026

Navotas City Hospital, OPD and Pedia Wards

It was an ordinary day at Navotas City Hospital—until it wasn’t.

Without grand announcement, Chummy Chum arrived with a gentle mission: to bring light into rooms where young hearts were quietly fighting brave battles. The children there were not only enduring the pain of illness in their small bodies, but also the silent ache of having less than others—no bright toys of their own, no new clothes, no grand adventures, and only simple meals where others might enjoy plenty.

But that day, something magical stepped through the hospital doors.

Chummy Chum, the beloved mascot, joined the team in handing out warm meals, toys, and thoughtful gifts. Yet more important than what was given was what was shared. He stayed. He listened. He laughed. He played. He knelt beside hospital beds and visited children confined in the ward, turning sterile rooms into spaces filled with wonder.

For a little while, pain loosened its grip.

Smiles replaced weary expressions. Laughter echoed down hallways that had grown too used to silence. In Chummy Chum’s presence, the children felt seen—not as patients, not as burdens, but as precious souls worthy of joy. They felt loved. They felt cared for. And in that moment, happiness became its own kind of medicine.

This is the Charity of Love that Chummy Chum brings—not just aid, but affection; not just support, but presence. A reminder that even in places of sickness, hope can bloom.

Heartfelt thanks to SM City Sucat, Zamony Ventures, Essential Layer, Inc., and the generous donors of pre-loved toys and clothes who helped make this magical moment possible.

Because sometimes, the greatest healing does not come from medicine alone—

It comes from joy.
