A Joyful Rainy Day in Payatas

15 November 2025

Sampaguita St. Payatas QC

Despite the rain, Chummy Chum pushed on to meet the children of Payatas, a community where many families rely on scavenging to survive. The goal: bring joy, surprises, and blessings to 100 young children.

The team set out early, armed with freshly prepared hot soup and supplies readied the day before—rice packs, diapers, biscuits, and more. Originally planned for a half-court, the event location shifted last minute, but thanks to the kindness of Wash Up Carwash on Sampaguita St., the celebration found a perfect home.

As the team set up, children slowly gathered, eager and excited. They led simple games that fit the space, filling the compound with laughter. When Chummy Chum (the mascot) finally made his entrance, the children rushed toward him with hugs and bright smiles—grateful for the rare moment of being seen, loved, and celebrated. For these children, it was a truly special day.

Each child went home with hot soup, juice, rice, biscuits, a pillow, diapers, SM Bears, coloring books and crayons, mooncakes, and balloons—simple gifts that brought immeasurable happiness.

The community expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chummy Chum, not just for the presents, but for the joy that lifted their spirits.

Special thanks to Zamony Venture Corp., Kokola Philippine Inc., Bahay Aruga Parañaque, Yun You, and Mr. Vrix Gallanos for their generous support.
