Brgy. Talon, Las Pinas
The Chummy Chum team wasted no time visiting the evacuation site where families affected by a recent massive fire found temporary shelter. But while government agencies provided food and basic needs, Chummy Chum came with something just as vital—joy, comfort, and hope for the children.
Understanding how deeply trauma affects young hearts, the team aimed to uplift spirits and remind the children that they’re not alone.
As the team set up their booth with hot champurrado, sweet treats, toys, and souvenirs, curious eyes peeked out—kids watching closely, sensing something special was coming. And they were right.
When Chummy Chum, the cheerful mascot, appeared, the children's faces lit up.
There was no space for a full performance, but just seeing Chummy Chum was enough to spark smiles and laughter. Their attention wasn’t on the food or toys—it was on the joy he brought. Because in moments of hardship, it's not the material things that matter most, but the feeling of being seen, loved, and cared for.
Each child went home with a full tummy, a small gift, and a happy memory to hold onto.
A heartfelt thank you to Kokola Philippines for the delicious cookies and wafers, Zamony Ventures Corporation for the premium baby diapers, and to all the volunteers who made this day possible.
