Chummy Chum recently visited children from a poor community affected by a massive house fire on Buho Street, Brgy. San Antonio. Now temporarily staying at the Valley 5 covered court, the children were treated to a special visit meant to bring comfort, hope, and joy during a difficult time.
The Chummy Chum Foundation aims not only to give but to help young minds cope by showing them they are not alone. It's not the material gifts that matter most—it’s the love, joy, and sense of belonging that children remember.
When the team arrived, the children were still inside their makeshift tents. Quietly and carefully, they set up a cheerful booth filled with yummy treats, toys, and special gifts. A warm pot of champurrado, a popcorn machine, and colorful balloons completed the festive scene—ready to surprise the children as they came out.
Word quickly spread, and children emerged—some alone, others in groups—all drawn by the excitement. The program began with a prayer, followed by a brief introduction to the Foundation’s mission. Then came the games, where every child received a prize for participating. The biggest smiles appeared when Chummy Chum, the mascot, danced and invited the children to join in the fun. He stayed to help distribute the gifts and share in the children’s happiness.
Special thanks to the volunteers at the evacuation site, SM City Sucat for the Bears of Joy, and Zamony Ventures for the thoughtful donation of baby diapers.
