There's a Filipino saying that it's better to be robbed than to experience a fire, and while we shouldn't wish for such events. The children and families affected by the fire in Brgy. Potrero, Malabon, now temporarily reside at the Potrero Malabon covered court.
The Chummy Chum team prepared champurrado early in the morning and traveled almost two hours through traffic to reach those affected. Upon arrival the covered court that serves as the evacuation center, the champurrado was still hot, and the team immediately began setting up and playing games while distributing food in paper bowls.
Before introducing Chummy Chum, the team leader delivered inspiring words, urging everyone not to lose hope, to continue doing good, and to trust that help and renewal come in many forms—words that were met with enthusiastic applause.
When Chummy appeared, the children and their parents cheered, appreciating Chummy Chum's unique way of bringing joy to those affected by the fire. They received many pre-loved clothes from voluntary donors, along with loot bags, champurrado, juice, toys, diapers, etc., bringing joy to everyone in the evacuation area.
Everyone thanked Chummy Chum for the blessings and love they shared.
The foundation extends its sincere gratitude to Zamony Venture Corporation, ELI, Ms. Chesca, Ms. Aika, and Sir Albino for their contributions to the day's event.
