Cancer Warrior Children

Sta. Rosa, Laguna

Ms. Marilou, from Canada, learned about the Chummy Chum Foundation through its Facebook page. She was then looking for a way to reach out to critically ill children from one town in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, a municipality where she grew up back here in the Philippines.

Ms. Marilou was inspired by Chummy Chum charity events she read on Facebook. She organized a charity mission and requested collaboration with Chummy Chum, for which the latter, gratefully accepted.

The event was hosted with a funny friendly clown with funny jokes appropriate for children, as well as a handful of magic tricks.

Ms. Marilou prepared so much for the children after learning all the basic needs of a cancer patient as the Chummy Chum team oriented her. Apart from boxes of formula milk and packs of diapers, she shared food that is good for terminally ill children. All the children received food packs, toys, and special gifts. The most fun part was when Chummy Chum appeared and performed a dance number for the children. All the children were smiling as if lightening the burden they’d been carrying around caused by their medical condition.

The event may be brief, but certainly brought a great deal of happiness to all the children, and parents as well.

All of these were planned by Ms. Marilou, as her way of giving back to the most in-need children and celebrating her birthday in the most meaningful way possible. This only proves that helping sets no boundaries. In these days of modern technology, you can send help no matter how far you can be.

Special thanks to The SM Store, WeCarePH, Tramo Central Group, and Clearlogic Inc. for letting the team use their company vehicle for this event.
