Sofia’s Birthday Brings Smiles to Children in Need

For Sofia’s birthday, her mother, Mommy Rush, had one heartfelt wish: to celebrate not with grandeur, but with children who need joy the most. With the help of the Chummy Chum Foundation, that wish came true at the DSWD Research and Study Center for Children.

Inspired by the value of gratitude and compassion, Mommy Rush wanted her daughter to grow up understanding that life’s blessings are best shared. She and her family prepared food packs and gift bags, while the Chummy Chum team brought booths filled with treats, toys, and souvenirs. Popcorn and cotton candy machines stood ready to delight — and they did.

The celebration kicked off with a prayer and a fun-filled show led by a lively clown duo, complete with puppets, magic, and games. Every child got a prize, and laughter filled the room. The highlight? Chummy Chum himself dancing with the kids, who greeted him with hugs and high-fives.

Despite this being Chummy Chum’s supposed to be the rest day of the week, the team was energized by the children’s joy — proof that giving back is always worth it. The DSWD RSCC expressed heartfelt thanks to Mommy Rush and Chummy Chum for making Sofia’s birthday so meaningful.

Celebrating with those in need is a beautiful and profound way to show gratitude. Happy birthday, Sofia — and here’s to more birthdays that brighten lives.
