Chummy Chum Brings Joy to Children of TOPS Despite the Storm

24 July 2025

Children from poor communities

TOPS, Sta Ana Manila.

The Chummy Chum Foundation is always on the lookout for children who need a break from life’s hardships—kids who often feel less, when they should simply enjoy being young. This time, the team chose to visit the children of Tahanan Outreach Projects and Services Inc. (TOPS), a non-profit organization that offers education in music, arts, and technology to underprivileged children, especially those with learning disabilities from the poorest communities.

TOPS goes beyond academics by providing school uniforms to help children feel valued and seen—not less, but more. Inspired by this mission, Chummy Chum partnered with TOPS to organize a special event just for them.

Despite heavy rains and waist-deep flooding, the Chummy Chum team pressed on. They found a safe route and successfully reached the venue, where they transformed the space into a festive celebration filled with colorful balloons, food booths, toys, and souvenirs. Popcorn and cotton candy machines added to the excitement.

As the children arrived, their faces lit up with joy. The program began with a prayer, followed by lively games where every participant received a prize. While the games were ongoing, children lined up for fresh cotton candy.

Mid-program, the team introduced Chummy Chum and his mission. When the mascot appeared, the children erupted in cheers, instantly bonding with him. Chummy Chum danced and played with the kids, filling the room with laughter and happiness.

The celebration continued with a hearty meal prepared by the team. Each child received special gifts and toys, creating a sense of belonging and joy.

For a moment, these children didn’t feel different—they felt like any other child: loved, valued, and celebrated.

Special thanks to SM Store Sucat for the Bears of Joy, Zamony Ventures Inc. for premium baby diapers, and E-Mind Learning for the pre-loved storybooks and learning materials.
